I was born in York and moved around the country as I progressed my career with a building society. After taking redundancy in 1989, I became a sub-postmaster.
My wife lived in Camborne in the 1970s, and when we sold the post office in 2001, we decided to move back to Cornwall. Since then, I have run several businesses and now work enjoying retirement. I have two grown-up children and two granddaughters, both of whom live locally.
I have previously served as a parish councillor while living in Sussex and was pleased to fill the Park Bottom vacancy in October 2014. I see the role as an opportunity to give something back to the parish that made my family feel so welcome. I believe each part of the parish should retain its individual identity, with a maintained green border, and I am committed to opposing large-scale development that would harm the character of the area.
